OEM Telematics

I would say HCSS Telematics for us is the backbone for supporting our maintenance software and program. Without that, we wouldn't have the information we needed to run our PMs accurately or know where our equipment's at.

We have telematics from the OEM with Caterpillar equipment, CASE equipment, and Komatsu equipment. And we also have HCSS Telematics hardware on most of our heavy truck fleet. So bringing those in through the OEM Telematics integration has helped us reduce opening up three or four different websites to look at different similar areas of information. So it's more efficient than opening up several websites to get the same stuff. So we're graduating from a paper-based, field-sent in hour meter readings, and the OEM Telematics has improved accuracy, improved timeliness, and accountability from those in the field to reduce and get more accurate data ultimately. So we have just, within the last year, recently started to take hold and use the location entry-exit and cycle time reports to better improve our trucking operations for milling and paving operations and large dirt export or import jobs. That has allowed us to analyze and adjust our number of trucks to be better suited for the operation at hand, whether it's increasing them or decreasing the number to become efficient and more cost effective.
