What's the difference between the AI assistant and agents coming in 2026?
The main difference is that the AI assistant answers questions on demand, while upcoming agents will actively perform multi-step work for you.

- What the AI assistant does today: The assistant uses your own data to answer questions in plain language. In HeavyJob, you can ask about job costs, crew, equipment, budget performance, and job variance, or even generate charts on the fly. It also lets you search and navigate the platform dynamically, ask questions about uploaded documents like SOPs and safety talks, and quickly summarize estimate audit history in HeavyBid so you see exactly what changed and when. Every response also includes positive and negative feedback options, allowing you to help improve future responses.
- What agents will do: Coming in Beta later this year, agents will take on complex workflows instead of just answering queries. They will carry out multi-step tasks for you, like drafting a first-pass estimate or investigating why a cost code is trending over budget, then hand the results back for your review. Nothing gets finalized automatically, meaning you always maintain final approval.

What happens if HCSS AI gets something wrong?
AI is incredibly capable, but because it is non-deterministic, we design under the assumption that it will sometimes make mistakes. To protect your decisions, we build our system around three protective layers:
- Transparency about confidence: Our AI openly shares its level of confidence based on the quality of the underlying data. We’d rather give you a cautious, hedged answer you can trust than a confidently incorrect one.
- Anomaly detection: Our system uses pattern recognition to spot and flag suspicious data outliers, rather than blindly accepting them. It treats unusual spikes as questions to verify, not facts.
- Guardrails and continuous testing: We enforce strict rules (such as “if you don’t know, say so”) and run continuous automated tests across thousands of scenarios. This ongoing evaluation catches behavioral drift and errors before they ever reach you.
Is my data secure and private with HCSS AI?
Yes. Your data is as secure as the rest of the HCSS platform. It is isolated to your company and never used to train AI models. Permissions stay exactly as they are today, too: HeavyJob enforces job and access permissions, HeavyBid enforces estimate access, and so on, so AI never sees more than you’re already allowed to see. And Privacy mode deletes your questions and responses after each session.

The HCSS AI assistant is already active and fully included in your current subscription.
Looking ahead, we will expand our HCSS AI solutions later this year with the Beta launch of HCSS AI Studio and our prebuilt agents. Following the Beta period, these advanced tools will be available to all HCSS users as a paid upgrade.
Does HCSS AI require special setup?
Once you’re an HCSS customer, admins can enable access through the Credentials website, and eligible users can start using it right away.
