Frequently asked questions
What is a digital work order in Equipment360?
A digital work order is the central hub for every repair or service task. It replaces paper tickets by capturing labor hours, parts used, and mechanic notes in one place. Unlike paper, it connects directly to your accounting system, ensuring that every bolt and every hour is accurately billed to the right job.
How does a work order get started?
Work orders are triggered in three ways: automatically via Preventive Maintenance alerts (based on hours/miles), manually by a Shop Foreman when a need arises, or by converting a maintenance request sent from an operator in the field. This ensures no repair is ever “verbal” or forgotten.
Can mechanics manage work orders on the move?
Yes. Using the E360 Mobile app on an iPad, mechanics can open work orders, view the machine’s full repair history, and log their “wrench time” right at the machine. This eliminates the need for them to walk back and forth to the office for instructions or paperwork.
How do work orders track parts and inventory?
When a mechanic adds a part to a work order, Equipment360 automatically deducts it from your inventory. This prevents over-ordering and ensures you always have a real-time count of what’s in the shop or on your service trucks.
How does this help with job costing?
Because mechanics log their time and parts directly against a specific piece of equipment and work order, the system can “charge back” those costs to the specific project the machine was working on. This protects your project margins by ensuring repair costs are never lumped into a generic overhead account.
