Millstone Weber: I-270 North Design Build in Missouri

Project description

The MoDOT design-build project addressed traffic flow, safety, and structural concerns on a heavily trafficked route that carries over 140,000 vehicles daily. The now-completed project has enhanced traffic operations, reduced congestion, and improved the overall safety and reliability of I-270.

What makes it interesting?

The complexity and scale of these improvements were vital to Missouri’s interstate network. The high volume of traffic and the necessity of maintaining service on such an important route during construction only added to the project’s challenging nature. Additionally, the focus on improving multi-modal travel, including the construction of a new 10-mile multi-use path for pedestrians and cyclists, highlights the project’s commitment to serving all communities along the route.

How HCSS software assisted with the project

HeavyBid played a huge role in helping Millstone Weber win their bid with the MoDOT for I-270. The software allowed their staff to quickly run various what-if scenarios, which enabled them to compare multiple-scope solutions during the design and planning phases. Using HeavyBid was a terrific way to identify the most cost-effective solutions, helping them be selected as the winning bidder as they secured approval from MoDOT.

“HCSS HeavyBid was instrumental in helping us to create a well-organized estimate...which ultimately led to being selected to complete the $245 million, 4-year long project.”

– Mike Cimo, Project Manager, Millstone Weber
