Phillip Robinson, Greg Keenan, and Kevin Murphree inspect the fried turkey to see if it’s done.
Today at HCSS we continued the tradition of our Annual Turkey Fry! When frying a turkey, it’s very important to precisely track the cooking time to prevent undercooking or drying out the turkey. Since we have over 60 turkeys this year, we decided to use HCSS Trucking to track the data in real-time.
Keaton Harlow, Quality Assurance Lead, helped develop the process. “We are using HCSS Trucking to track how long the turkeys have been in the fryer. Whenever a turkey gets dropped in the fryer, we log the ‘load’ that it’s been dropped in that fryer. We have 10 fryers going, so we have 10 locations. When they come out of the fryer, we log when they’re back in the kitchen and ready to go. We clock them out, which sends a text message to whoever’s turkey it is so that they know they can come pick up their turkey!”

Addison Roy, our Fleet Supervisor, shows us the “old school” way of tracking on a whiteboard! “Most turkey’s take around 40 minutes, so it’s key for us to know exactly when they went in, and when they’re coming out. Keaton did a good job with the HCSS Trucking app to translate this onto a digital platform.”

“We actually just had someone show up because they got their text message saying that their turkey was done, so it’s working well and it’s awesome,” Keaton exclaims. So now we know our software can do more than digitize your trucking operations. It can also help perfectly fry some turkeys! You can learn more about HCSS Trucking at www.hcss.com/trucking.
