Our main customer base consists of infrastructure, heavy/highway, and utility contractors – that means our customers build roads, bridges, dams, airports, and other structures that society runs on.
Our passion is in developing software to help these contractors do their jobs even better. We develop HeavyBid, the industry standard in estimating software, to help contractors dramatically improve their estimating and bidding capability and increase their odds of winning profitable work. But winning a project is only the beginning.
That’s why HCSS provides an entire suite of integrated software to help contractors all the way through project completion, including programs to manage daily activities in the field, track labor and equipment, keep workers safe on the job, and much more.

HCSS has been an employee-owned company since 1998, when Mike Rydin, Founder and President/CEO, sold 25% of the company to employees via an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) with the idea of motivating all employees to think and act like owners. Today, Mike Rydin is still the largest shareholder of HCSS.
Through these tools, employees are rewarded financially for their positive impact on the company. With profit-sharing, employees know when they make a positive impact on the company’s bottom line as well as an impact on their own pocketbook. For the past 10 years, employees have received substantial profit sharing, both in cash and ESOP stock.
