- So another question that may come up is, if we're gonna move crews in, what prep work do I need to do? So the question here would be, if I'm gonna move drillers in to put new foundations in for this new bridge, is it going to hit where it's flat, and do I have to do any preparation, or is it gonna fall up on that slope, where I have to do some grading, remove some concrete. There's a number of things that may need to go on there. Typically, in the olden days, (coughs) I would have to have a survey crew come out and actually locate the foundations.
But now, knowing that this little box here is where that foundation set's gonna go, we can walk (traffic rumbles faintly) until we get to where the little blue dot is over where that box would be. So right now we're still on flat ground, right? So this would be an easy site prep, but now I get to where we're gonna go up the slope, and we're still not there. So now I know (traffic rumbles faintly) this is the corner of my structure, where my foundations go.
Obviously we're going to have to remove this concrete. We're going to have to come in and grade a flat spot for the drill rig. We're gonna have to do some site work prep. So now this allows me to go ahead and plan those crews, plan that work, plan the trucks I need, plan the removal equipment, now that I know that it has to happen.
If it had fallen down at the bottom, we probably could have called in the driller without having to do any of that, and went ahead and got the foundations in the ground. This product has helped me plan without having to engage a surveyor, engage a lot of engineering resources. In two or three minutes here, I've been able to ask myself a planning question and answer it myself quickly.
