(upbeat music) - My name is Dwayne Kimmis. I've worked at Park Construction for seven years, a fleet manager for Park for five. Before we had HCSS Telematics as far as hours reporting, daily they would take an hour meter reading and put it in an email for each piece of equipment and send it into me and I would put in on a spreadsheet and update it weekly. It was not very accurate.
You had to depend on people to make sure they wrote down things accurately. Now, the hour meter readings go right in to HCSS Heavy Job and the foremans just have to verify the hours worked. The hours come directly into Equipment 360 for PM maintenance and location is in 360 automatically. So, the paperwork's gone, it's done.
Whatever information the OEM provider's willing to let out, it comes across. The goal was to have everything on GPS, why you have hours of service on the machinery for tracking PMs. Location, when I need to know where it's at. Instead of having to go put boxes or new units on all of our equipment, if it's got OEM, you just use the OEM link and it's seamless.
(upbeat music) So, we use it to track utilization. We can see how much it's ran compared to how much time they billed against it. So, you can see if you're getting actual utilization. You can also look to see if it didn't work at all, if it's just sitting on somebody's job, 'cause they like looking at it.
So, there's a big different in utilization looking at that that way. (upbeat music) It takes a lot of work away from me having to manually do my PM scheduling. (upbeat music) We have an Excel spreadsheet for each piece of equipment and we just went off week-ending hour meter readings; they had to be manually put in. Now, it's all automated, tells you when it needs to be done.
For Telematics and Equipment 360, it brings into your location the foreman, who's job it's one, the job number, equipment hours. The hard wire units are very basic to install, just a few wires. They require little maintenance. They're accurate, it's pretty intuitive and easy to set up, little coaching over the phone from support and we didn't have any problems.
I would say HCSS Telematics, for us, is the backbone for supporting our maintenance software and program. Without that, we wouldn't have the information we needed to run our PMs accurately, or know where our equipment's at. (soft music)
