Copy from a Past Estimate
Hi, I'm Josh over at HCSS. Today what we're gonna do is we're going to look at a feature inside of HeavyBid-- called Copy from Past Estimates. What that's going to let us do is it's going to let us create an estimate based off of things that we have already done in the past and that we liked. Now, inside of HeavyBid right now, I have an example estimate pulled up. Within this, I have one bit item for my 24 inch RCP. Now I can create this from scratch or I can use this particular feature or to make my life easier. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go over to the Copy Bid Items and activity screen. The way that this is formatted is on the right hand side, what we have is our current estimate. You'll notice all of the previous bid items that we saw in the screen before. And we can also see that 24 inch RCP that we're about to build on. On the left hand side, I can pull in any estimate that exists at all in my database. Now, what that means is any estimate I've created, one of my coworkers created or anything from a template as well. Right now, I have one job in mind, very similar to the job we're about to perform and I wanna go and access it. So it is called the city of Houston. And I am going to use that job in order to pull something from it. So right here, you can see there is a bid item called RC pipe 24 inch. Whenever I open it up, I can see all of the different tasks that are required for me to complete that bid item. In this case, we have one. Whenever I open that up, you can see the materials, equipment, and laborers that I used in that past job for my estimate in order to complete that work. If I like how that looks, I can drag it and drop it into my current estimate. What it's going to do is it's going to prompt me to confirm a few things. This is going to be the new bid item. This is the activity number we're going to use. This is the description for my furniture and installing 24 inch RCP. And it's also going to confirm one more thing for me, which is the quantities. The quantity of my current job is going to be different than my past jobs, naturally. So right here, you're going to see that the source quantity that we're pulling from from the previous estimate is around 360 linear feet. Whenever I hit copy, HeavyBid is going to adjust that for me. And it's going to use the production rate that we have in our past estimate for our new one. So whenever I open this up, you'll notice that the crew and the materials are all the same. One thing that we can focus on is the quantities that we have for each one of these, right? We don't know how long we're going to need these guys for, but heavy bid does. And so it already calculated and it said, if you're going to be working with this new quantity output, you're going to need all of these guys, you're going to need all of the equipment, and you're going to need these materials in order to complete it. So to recap, the Copy From Past Estimate screen inside of HeavyBid helps you in creating your estimates a lot faster and relying what you've already done in the past to make your estimate creation in the future easy. If you have any questions about this feature or about how our software can help you take better control of your workflow, feel free to give us a call, chat, or request a custom demo on the website. The copy from previous estimate feature in HeavyBid allows you to easily create an estimate based on what you've already done in the past and duplicate that part of an estimate.
