USA Today’s Top Workplaces in America has recognized Heavy Construction Systems Specialists (HCSS) based on feedback from over 300 employees participating in the 2024 Energage Survey. HCSS stood out among 39,000 employers nationwide as a Top Workplace.

At the heart of HCSS is a strong personal relationship between customers and employees. For nearly four decades, HCSS has worked closely with customers to find collaborative solutions to make construction businesses more efficient and successful. Together, both sides listen, learn, and improve. This established trust is not something that is built on work alone. The design of the HCSS campus is an example of where the business intentionally created amenities that offer opportunities for downtime.
It may seem backward, but the company’s success shows that when employees are happy and collaborative, customers can be served better, and ideas can flow.
These amenities include a two-story indoor slide, dedicated courts for racquetball, basketball, and pickleball, two gyms, a rock climbing wall, a soccer field, a running track, and weekly on-site yoga and weight training instructors. Not to mention the three fully stocked kitchens, shaded dog kennels, the dog park attached to the campus, and a fully Wi-Fi-enabled indoor and outdoor campus. These amenities and activities provide opportunities for ideation and creativity.
Inviting customers to the campus for the initial discovery phase of their implementation is not only a way to focus the team before they go back home, but it also gives them a chance to meet the people behind the scenes, including the developers, product managers, and support team.

This award comes from the fifth annual national survey co-sponsored by Energage and USA TODAY, recognizing top midsize and large organizations with 150+ employees. Employee feedback alone informs the rankings. This year, 79% of HCSS employees responded to the Energage Survey. The surveys are anonymous, and the results are used to help leadership improve.
