Achen-Gardner: Centennial Way Federal Aid Transportation Enhancement

Project Description

The Centennial Way Project transformed Washington Street and the Arizona Capitol Mall entrance into a beautiful streetscape for residents and visitors to celebrate Arizona’s 100th birthday (February 14, 2012) as well as the state’s history and culture. In just 77 weeks, the Achen-Gardner Design-Build Team met federal requirements; completed environmental and state historic preservation clearances; obtained rights-of-way, easements, and permits; completed design; and constructed 1.25 miles of roadway civil infrastructure and streetscape improvements. The project team maximized the design-build process by balancing quality, quantity, and budget goals and ensuring the timely completion of improvements to this historic corridor.

How HCSS Software assisted with the Project.

HeavyBid provided the ability to generate accurate bids quickly. This allows us to generate the volume of bids needed to be successful in today’s competitive market. The fact that labor, equipment, crews, and activities are maintained in a database helps ensure that our bids remain consistent.

Achen-Gadner won several awards for this project including but not limited to the American Public Works Association (APWA) Project of the Year and the Award of Merit for Environmental Excellence - Site Development and Landscape (Public Sector Category) from the Arizona Forward Association.
