This continues as he works with customers ensuring their needs are met while preparing HeavyBid for the future.

At HCSS, we continue to invest in the future of construction by supporting educators and students across the country. This past July, our company participated in the third annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Estimating Bootcamp, an event dedicated to equipping construction educators with the tools and training needed to prepare students for real-world success.

How the ASC Aims to Impart Construction Knowledge and Skills

The Associated Schools of Construction is a leading academic organization dedicated to advancing construction education through innovation, collaboration, and shared learning. That mission closely aligns with our goal at HCSS of doing everything within our power to help future generations entering the heavy civil and infrastructure industry. Through this partnership, educators can better integrate industry practices and technology into their curricula, ensuring students gain crucial experience before entering the workforce.

Hands-On Learning at the 2025 Bootcamp

Hosted at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK, the 2025 ASC Estimating Bootcamp brought together professors and instructors from across the United States. Same as in past years, the event focused on collaboration, training insights, and the tools available to help properly instruct students.

As the Senior Technical Product Manager for HeavyBid, I was joined in attendance by fellow HCSS representatives Taunie Kubena and Daniella Reyna. Appointed ASC officer Wes Collins (Auburn University) and elected director John Hildreth (Western Carolina University) were also present to support discussions on how technology can streamline the estimating process for students.

Strengthening Connections Between Campus and Career

Our involvement with the ASC proves a commitment at HCSS to strengthening ties between higher education and the construction industry. We bring this up not to boast, but rather to implore others to join this effort. Looking ahead to 2026, HCSS plans to expand its University Program, offering more resources, educational licenses, and opportunities for engagement to construction programs nationwide.

Through these efforts, we’re increasingly confident in our ability to help educators better prepare students for their future careers. Hopefully, they also inspire our fellow industry professionals to engage in advancing academic growth and workforce development.

Partnering with the Next Generation of Builders

HCSS invites other industry professionals, customers, and partners to join in supporting future construction leaders by engaging with the HCSS University Program. Those interested can learn more about the program and request educational licenses for schools or construction management programs.
