Hello everyone and welcome to today's webinar, From Field Data to Faster Decisions with Heavy Job. My name is Joanne Torres and I am the Manager of Professional Development and Continuing Education here at AGC of America. And I am pleased to welcome you to today's program hosted by HCSS as we discuss using operational data to improve decision making in the field and office. I'm pleased to introduce Harry White, technical product manager for HCSS Insights and Direct Access. Harry will introduce the rest of today's speakers, so I'll turn it over to him now. Thanks, Harry. You. So, yeah, I'm Harry White. As mentioned, I'm the technical product manager here at HCSS over Insights and Direct Access. So mainly, I am over the back end data and reporting segment of our product stack. I'll hand off to Jonathan Knudson for his introduction. Hey there. I'm Jonathan Knudson. I'm the technical product manager for HeavyJob. We do have several or a full team working on HeavyJob. It's so I'd we've got some folks on our mobile side and my field side. I handle a lot of the the website. So if you access HeavyJob through a browser, then it's likely that I'm the one helping manage that experience for you. And I will hand it over to Jackson. Yep. And I'm Jackson Rumph. I'm the HSE operations manager for the Walsh Group. I focus on a lot of our policy, procedure, and technological advancements when it comes to safety and things of that nature. So this is right up my alley, and hopefully, we're gonna talk about some data today. I'm very happy to have you here, Jackson. Thank you once again for agreeing to come on with us. So quickly, I think this was in the email that was sent out to y'all surrounding this webinar, but just going over the objectives and what we hope to achieve out of this. So firstly, achieving real time connectivity and how we aim to eliminate the delay between the data coming from the field and then into the hands of the office. Secondly, taking all driving actionable visibility by taking all of that raw data coming from the field and making meaning from it through dynamic dashboards. Three, using those dynamic dashboards to enable rapid course corrections. You're able to spot problems easily and fix them before they become, you know, really big and costly issues. And lastly, empowering the field teams to get the most power in their hands so they are able to self regulate and fix their problems within the field, kind of leading to the fastest turnaround for course correction. And just a couple of minutes to talk about like what we do at HCSS. And I really like this graphic because it shows a really good example of like what our product stack is. So we make top to bottom solutions for mainly heavy civil construction, but also utilities, self performed work, and that kind of thing. You can see that we have our estimating software with HeavyBid. That's gonna be mainly HeavyBid and preconstruction, so everything that goes on before the bid submitted. HeavyJob that Knudson is over that mainly deals with, you know, time cards, safeties, safety submittals, your job costing, project management, docs and plans, and then resource planning. And then our fleet that we aren't gonna be talking a whole lot about here, but we do offer a wide a wide array of solutions for that, such as, like, fuel management with our fuel plus product, maintenance with MaintenancePro, asset tracking, telematics, all of that kind of stuff. And then lastly, we have foundations. The foundation, which is what we call platform here at HCSS. And that's where I live, which is, you know, what we do with all the data that is coming down into the foundation. So a good way to think of this is a funnel that's ending with with platform being AI reporting and integrations and analytics. And real quick, I do wanna mention it's not one of our software openings offerings, but our twenty four hour instant support is up there in the upper right as well. And that's actually where Harry and I both started. So those guys work tirelessly to answer your calls in three rings or less with a real human being to answer your questions if you have any issues with your software experience. So I always like to give them a shout out as well. Yeah. Much very well deserved as Scott submits, and That is where we both started our careers here at HCSS many years ago. Alright. So I just wanted to spend a couple of seconds to talk about why HCSS Insights is because I'm sure that most of the people watching this webinar have probably heard of HeavyJob or HeavyBid before, but not everyone might not know what HCSS Insights is. So Insights, we went live back in March of twenty twenty five, and it's the out of the box advanced reporting solution that we offer here at HCSS. So what we aim to do is allow our customers to better analyze and customize their data reporting solutions to make better operational decisions. It's built on top of Power BI, which is pretty much the industry standard within business analytics reporting. And that was kind of a push as to why we chose to go with Power BI. So with insights, we don't just, you know, give you the data in a data model and that's it. We also come with out of the box reports. We have over eighty prebuilt templated reports that your company is able to provision out to your company to give you either a starting point to start customizing or just give you those out of the box insights. We also handle all of the data transformation. So anyone that has ever tried to set up like a data pipeline or even a refresh, like an automated refresh on a Power BI database knows that there is a lot of technical complexity that goes into that. And with Insights, we do all that for you. As I mentioned earlier, we do bring all of the different products data into that single data model and build the entire semantic model, which right now is sitting at, I think, over sixteen hundred data points. But with all these data points, this allows you to report across all the different areas of your company and really give you a holistic look of how your company is performing. And then lastly, something I always like to mention is the automated report subscriptions, Because generally there's a lot of people that need access to the data held within reports. They don't necessarily need access to the products in of themselves or necessarily the ability to, you know, edit the reports or wherever the case may be. So with HCSS Insights, we offer you the ability to automatic to on an automated schedule, send out a send out a version of the report on a subscription that travels through email to the user's inbox. And these users don't actually even need to have an HCSS account to be able to receive these emails. And with that, that leads us straight into our first poll question, which is how are you currently reporting on the on the data gathered from the field? Are you more real time dashboards, executive level, or kind of getting into the manual reporting, or you don't actually use performance dashboards yet at all? And we'll give you some time to answer these questions. Give it about ten more seconds, and then we'll just go ahead and end the poll. Alright. That one that one took a turn. Yeah, it did. But it looks like that there's actually a fairly even distribution. There is a good number of people that don't use any performance dashboards yet in a lot of manual reports in Excel and operational teams use dashboards but not shared up. It's good that not everyone is like at the highest level of real time dashboards use at the executive level because there's a lot to learn of, like, how to get your company into the more real time dashboards that give you the fastest course correction. And even though even for those of you who are already using those, you might learn something about how to advance those reporting options. But with that, I'm gonna hand it over to Knudson, who's gonna be leading us into the webinar. Or I guess the slides. Yeah. Thanks, Harry. So Harry is talking a lot about some of the options for reporting. I wanted to touch base a little bit on how we get that data into the system. So at HCSS, we focus a lot on getting the right information to the right users just at the right time. That's a big part of our process. So when we first built the operation side of HeavyJob about twenty five years ago, one of the main issues that we were addressing was moving past paper time cards. A lot of companies were using these, you know, paper documents. They were putting those into Excel sheets to generate their reports. And it took some companies a week or more to find out everything that was happening in the field. So there was a ton of paper to sort through, whether it was invoices, site plans, time cards, just a lot of data flying around and, you know, just a delayed time frame on when that got to the right people. So I did wanna give Jackson a chance to talk about some of his experience here. Jackson, what are some of the issues that you've experienced in your career when that data gets delayed? Yeah. We had this as a large part of our reason for adopting HCSS here in recent past. We were very much a paper company here about two or three years ago where time cards, quality safety documentation was just paper submissions, right? It's somebody doing something in the field, documenting it as best they can, and it hopefully making its way into an office where it maybe ends up in a file cabinet or sorted in whatever way it needs to be. But in terms of the costs, there's there's plenty of cost. A lot of that is reliant on just trust, making sure that safety documentation is submitted and filled out and covers the right things. The time cards are done well and right. So there's just the initial cost of handling all of that. There's also the reputational cost. Right? We all wanna get paid on time. Our tradespeople especially wanna make sure that they're getting paid appropriately and in a timely manner. It's just all of those things. When when we're able to get that data almost instantaneously now, it just improves the process significantly and makes things better for us, our trades partners, and anyone else that we hopefully work with on-site. Yeah. Thank you, Jackson. And I used to work in construction plumbing, so I have fond memories of chasing down literal paper trails back in the day. And it's definitely a step up when you can have kind of that digital process in place. So that's kind of part of the solution we wanted to talk about today. You know, we really believe that that real time connectivity is the best solution to all of those issues that we've mentioned so far. So that doesn't just mean connecting the field to the office. That also means connecting our other software to the field applications and allowing those field users to feel more empowered to make those decisions for themselves because they have that visibility they need to make those decisions. So before I hand it back over to Harry, I did wanna touch on how that looks today. There's a lot of different aspects to our field app, but you can see here on the left, that's one of our newer additions, the MyField app that allows individual employees to check-in. And that also connects to HeavyJob, our dispatching software, our fleet software as well. So we have more data points than I can show you today, but just know that, you know, some of the safety data that that Jackson mentioned, production quantities, time sheets, and even your, you know, project management documents like RFIs and submittals as well as fuel information not only can be, you know, entered by the the foreman in the field or the superintendent in the field, but they can also reference data points on that to help help them make decisions there. So we took that one step further last year with our MapView software. So in twenty twenty five, we also introduced a new way for our online HeavyJob users to see all this data in a single place. So if you're already using HeavyJob, be sure to check out the map view. Basically displays all of your job data within a visual context. So kinda taking us out of just the reporting level and adding that that visual context that really helps you in certain workflows. Like, if I was, you know, reviewing the the job site photos that were taken that day, I would be able to see exactly where that user was standing when they took that photo. Same thing with our safety inspections. If you have telemetry data in your equipment, you can over that overlay this on the map as well. And one thing that you can see on this slide here is that if you use a a drone service like Propeller or some of these other great drone services that offer a web map tile service, You can actually see live updates of your drone flight images loaded in real time. So whether you're flying those drones daily or weekly, you can kind of provide your own job site imagery to see the the updates that are happening in the field versus just what we would see from, like, Google Maps or whoever is providing that satellite view. So that being said, I wanted to take us into another poll. And the topic of this one is just what is your biggest challenge in reporting on field data? Is it that there's too much data without clarity, a lack of those centralized tools or systems like we were talking about the the field app where it kinda brings it all together, siloed departments or data sources, difficulty aligning metrics to business goals, or choose the last one too if you're if you're not tracking much data yet in that way. All right, we'll give you guys a minute or so to get your answers in. Alright. We've got a little over half the participants have logged their answers. We'll give you guys about ten more seconds, and then we'll lock the poll here so we can talk about it. Okay. So pretty even split on this one too. At twenty seven percent, our number one was lack of centralized tools or systems. So it sounds like we're having the right conversation today just kind of talking about whether it's HCSS or another solution that you have, just ways to kind of get all of that data into one place where it's really useful to make those faster decisions to be able to respond to things quickly. And tied for second place, we have siloed departments or data sources and difficulty aligning metrics to business goals. And I think, you know, all of us that have worked in the office or the field have kind of felt some of that tension sometimes between departments or, you know, kind of getting this idea of metrics out there, but then really finding ways to implement that. So thank you guys for your feedback on There is the lack of centralized tools or systems. So with insights combining so many different data sources, that is like a problem that is not unusual to have. And it's not like an easy, like snap your fingers and it's done. Even combining like software within our own product stack on the data side and insights has been quite a massive undertaking. So this is a pretty consistent problem across all industries, but especially in construction. But with that. Yeah. So actual visibility. So this is kind of really the meat and potatoes of what I do is trying to find out how to take this massive kind of swath of data that we have coming from all different directions and combine them into like a single source of truth. And that's really like what this kind of conversation is leading towards is the ultimate goal is to have one single source of truth that is referenceable, especially if seeing of y'all's companies have started to kind of explore AI a little bit. The single source of truth is becoming more and more important in the modern AI era. So, you know, insights, we do like combine that out of the box automatically with you for you with all the data sources. But we also I wanted to mention direct access, which we'll talk about a little bit further later, which is our kind of like in stage reporting solution that offers basically endless customization. But, you know, raw data is really cool if you like data like me, but you can't really do a lot with it until you actually have some measurable outcomes. And making a pretty report is nice, but it needs like a call to action, needs to have data that actually allows you to spot those hand risk and operational patterns before they impact the bottom line. And, you know, it allows you to see things such as, you know, safety trends to stop or to change course before you have a real issue with the amount of safety incidents that you're having. So, Jackson, I was gonna ask, you know, how have you used insights or any other tools for that matter to refine the massive amount of data that a company like Walsh has into more, like, and usable information? Yeah. So it was actually pretty perfect timing for us. We started using HCSS January twenty five, basically, was kind of our kickoff. We had a bit of piloting before that, but company wide, we kicked off January of twenty twenty five. And about, I think, two or three months later is when Insights went live. And so we got to experience firsthand kind of that initial phase where we're getting the raw data, we're getting benefits of virtual submissions, but our people are maybe struggling a little bit to understand how their jobs are going and how things are working. So once Insight hits about, again, two months after we started, day one we were able to just kind of implement that, take some of the canned reports, make them a little bit more custom for what we need, and turn them into very visually useful graphs, charts, tables that that give an indication to the projects. Are we doing enough things? Do we have our time cards in place? Do our form and submitting what they're supposed to be submitting on a daily basis? Our project team is holding the meetings and doing the safety documentation that they should be doing on any given day. So that file cabinet of just submissions was just very quickly turned around into a very nice looking reports, which has benefited the project teams very quickly. And then we were able to take it after that and take the canned reports, like I said, make some more custom versions of things that we wanted to see based on our own company expectations and policies and procedures, all of which has been able to been done through insights. So that's kind of been our initial push. Right? We've been using this for about a year and a half, just utilizing insights as best we can. But we're transitioning into some more external uses of data here as we continue on that I think we're going to get into a little bit later in these slides. Yep. Yeah. I I came on to the product team over insights right before insights went live. And right after we went live, I felt like I was talking to someone from Walsh, like probably on a daily basis. It's been really cool to see that how y'all have progressed and the kind of things that y'all are able to get out that data. So this is just a quick example of a report that is out of the box within insights. I wanted to touch on a couple of things and the importance of it, mainly the combination of multiple data sources. So this is just a foreman report card. And as you see here, we have the job, the foreman, and then a list of every single transaction from time cards on the heavy job side to toolbox talks, safety meetings on the safety side and even equipment inspections. And then we combine all of this into a single score. And then at a glance, you're able to see, you know, who which ones of your foremans are performing really well, doing all of the tasks that are assigned to them, which ones might need some help. Then, you know, if you say don't care about a single one of these KPIs, you can also edit this report, which will look at some examples from Jackson a little further on to make it more customizable to exactly what your company needs. So rapid course correction. So there's two kind of main kinds of rapid course correction in my opinion. So the first is derived from, like, real time reporting. And this is things that are really easy to catch whenever you have a digitized software such as HCSS. You know, things like the incorrect production quantities or even like a employee being on the wrong time card that at the very moment is like a couple of seconds to correct. But if that goes all the way to payroll, then that becomes a serious headache for your payroll department. And then secondly, there's more trend analysis. So you can still make rapid course corrections based on these year long or multi year or twenty, thirty year long trends. You can still make these rapid course corrections. But the fact that you're able to do an analysis of all of your data over all time allows you to see whenever it gives you a baseline to know how your company is performing. If there's like a drop in a certain KPI that can kick off a more detailed research into, you know, what is causing this and what action is needed for you to make a course correction on that. So, Jackson, where are some of the kind of course corrections both out of real time and long term trend analysis that your company has benefited from? Yeah. So the immediate rapid correction is just the ability to see those things are being submitted on a daily basis. Right? Those insight reports can tell us immediately again if our foreman is submitting the things they're supposed to be submitting. We don't have to wait till the end of the week or the end of the day to collect those things anymore. They're submitted into HCSS and we can review them when we need to and that we were able to adjust. If we feel the plan is not adequate enough or doesn't cover the right hazards, controls, or safety issues, quality issues, that's easily obtainable now through that data. And so just immediate review of documentation and submissions as a means of rapid course correction. And then like you said as well, the the long term trends of things we're learning of maybe issues that we're having that we didn't quite have the capability of looking into as well. We're we're seeing a lot of, right, A lot more submissions of incidents that we weren't able to get in the past. We're seeing we're having a better understanding of the type of utility strikes, for example, that we're experiencing where we knew these were things were happening before, but we didn't have the means to really document them well. Long term trend analysis, we're able to look at this more in-depth and see if we can find better solutions for why we're hitting utilities, why our subcontractors are hitting utilities, and what we can do to to fix those issues. So all of this, again, rather than being in a file cabinet now as useful data that we can look at from a job site, a region, company is all just immeasurably beneficial. Yeah, that that brings up a very good point that another like key thing that you get with a long term trend analysis is to make sure that the actions that you're taking are actually working. So you mentioned like utility strikes. And, you know, if before, if it was paper submissions, it would just be the person who's getting handed these utility strike forms saying like, well, it feels like that I've I think that there's been less handed to me over the last couple of months since we did this new process. But seeing the actual numbers of submissions and being able to see that, you know, the preventative action that you're taking is very important. And with that leads us into our last poll question, which is how confident are you in the accuracy of the data coming from the field? You know, a kind of big part of this is there's a term called data cleanliness and data transformation, which is how clean the data is that thankfully with a software like this, it's always pretty clean. There's not a ton of misentries. But, you know, if they're just entering data on the wrong job, You know, there's just you can't trust what you don't you can't trust the trends if you don't trust the raw data. And we'll give about twenty more seconds to Seems like that this question has a pretty clear leader in there. All right. So this all had a very clear front runner being somewhat confident in the accuracy of the data coming from the field. So that's good that a lot of people are not in the not at all confident. But I gonna hand it off to Knudson to hopefully share some ways that we can get some of the people that said somewhat confident into the very confident in their field data. Thanks, Harry. And before we switch gears completely, I saw we did have a a question come in through the q and a modules. Thank you, Reza. You guys kinda touched on this, but I figured it's worth mentioning in case you had anything else you wanted to add. The question is, have you used your system for early warning or risk prevention? And what about health monitoring? Any examples? I guess I can answer the first part of that which is for the early warning or risk prevention, there's a couple of modules within HCSS that we are leveraging, we're hoping to leverage more here in the future as we export this data. But the JHAs, the formatters submitting their JHAs where they're looking at the hazards, their controls, and so review of that to see again is the plan adequate enough. And then the observations and the inspections, So what are people seeing in the field? What hazards risks are they observing that maybe we need to focus more on? Maybe we need to do additional training on fall protection or excavations because we are seeing twenty of our people, twenty of our managers or foreman observe negative interactions with those topics where, again, in the past, they might have seen those things and submitted maybe a paper copy of what they observed, but just at a data level, bringing that all together. And now we can look at the past month, the past year, the region, and where we need to maybe focus our efforts. But, Harry, I don't know if you have an answer about health monitoring. I don't really have an answer about health monitoring. Really, like, I'm not sure if we have any, like, on body, like biometrics reporting that I don't believe that we have any that I'm aware of yet. With, you know, a solution like direct access, if you did have access to that data, then direct access would allow you to combine those different data sources and get that, you know, like even if there's something that doesn't exactly fit your needs, if you know, you want to get deeper insights into a specific thing on a different software, then direct access having that ultimate customization and kind of is yours to do with as you wish allows you to combine those different data sources. Yeah. And it makes me think of some of the tags we can add to diaries or time cards as well. You know, for instance, Harry's down there suffering through another Houston summer. You could have a tag on your diary that says, hey. It's the temperature today was above a certain point. And then through a cross product. You know, that's on the the heavy job side. On the operation side, you could, you know, compare that to your safety data and say, okay. You know, when it's above a certain temperature or when these certain site conditions exist, like, these are the things I need to watch out for, Make sure my crews stay healthy. We include those things in some of our inspections. We want our managers to make sure that they're taking into consideration heat and health and negative impacts of all of those things. So not necessarily health monitoring, but maybe health identification issues of hazards like that is something that we've been able to implement through inspections and observations in HCSS. Nice. And I think that segues well into our next section here. We just wanted to talk a little bit about empowered field teams. And and this means a lot of different things across my experience with our software and talking to a lot of our users and support. I think, you know, some of the things that Jackson mentioned about, you know, hey. We've got twenty observations for this job site, or we had these incidents reported. You know? Just making sure that the guys in the field feel comfortable speaking up about what's going on without feeling like, hey, I'm I'm, you know, tattling on somebody or or I'm gonna get in trouble for providing this information. You know, just really making sure down to the, you know, even the entry level employees that everybody feels comfortable making those observations. And and that's why with our observation software, you can even do that anonymously. Some folks put a QR code up on the job site, and and people can just scan it and and let people know in the office what's going on. So just just getting that trust built with your crews so that where they know that, hey. You know, we don't have somebody breathing down our neck. These people are genuinely concerned on, like, how they can keep me safe and make sure I get home to my family at the end of the day in in good shape. So on the operations side, I feel like that also applies to the foreman using the field app. So even at the managerial level, we've done a lot to bring in some of that information that I mentioned earlier, but just to really help them feel like they're not just a drone out there or that we're kind of, you know, looking for ways to, like, punish our foreman for not meeting their goals. That's something that I've seen work well in construction as well as at software companies like HCSS, just, like, helping people feel like they are in control of their day to day and giving them the information they need to do that. You know, of course, that's not that doesn't happen at the snap of a finger. You know, companies like Walsh have spent a lot of time and resources, you know, building up to those those levels. So it is a a process addition that comes into play, but we really believe that HCSS provides a software experience that that meshes well with that. So I did wanna talk about a couple of the tools that the foreman would have in the field app to be able to make those decisions. So the image on the left is the the work plan. And in addition to some of those weather conditions that you can see in the upper right, you know, they've got location information, but just information on how the their cost codes or their work items, activities, whatever your company calls them, are doing in relation to, you know, the budgeted versus how it's doing today, what's left to do. I found in in lots of different situations, you know, defining a clear target is the first step in making sure that your your team is able to hit that target. And once that target is there, miraculously, a lot of the other details fall into place. So in terms of safety information, you can see there the meetings, inspections, JHAs, if they have any activities scheduled that helps implement some of those safety processes to help build that trust and to help users have the information that they need to stay safe as well as a production plan there that I'll talk a little bit more about here in a second. So the job analysis, I don't have a picture of that. But basically, as, you know, we call them mobile managers, but this could be foreman. Just anyone that's entering the time card data can view their progress in real time. So there's a lot of field reports that just at the touch of the button, they can bounce to from the time card and and figure out how how to stay on track. And the production planner is the third bullet point here. That's a big part of, you know, projecting that into the future. So a lot of us have kind of these what if scenarios that we talk about on when we're working on a job. The production planner actually allows you to to kind of adjust adjust the crew to see how that would work in terms of your production. So if you have a activity or a Costco that's getting off track, the app will actually provide suggestions on how to get back on track. Like, hey. We could increase the crew to this size to increase our production quantity for the day to meet this goal. And here's what that would look like in terms of cost, and here's how you know, different suggestions like that. That's just one of many, but the production planner works really well to kinda project that into the future. So with that being said, I think I wanted to turn it back over to Harry to kinda talk about how that looks across the suite of software. You know? We've started out talking a lot about how that looks in the field. And and I'll hand it over to Harry to to talk about the flow of data and how that works with our core solutions. Yeah. So kind of looking at left to right, these are the three main topics that we've been talking about. Heavy job with the data entry and, you know, quick, very quick turnaround reporting. And then HCSS insights that allows for an immense amount of customization, but is out of the box ready to run and is really meant for companies that are just starting to get interested into business analytics reporting and allow them and give them a spot to grow without having to get into the full data transformation, warehousing and all of that. And then lastly, direct access, which is our most like kind of advanced offering that we give companies access to a reporting version of their production database. And then once you have that data, you can combine it with any data source you would like, including such as your accounting system or any kind of ERP solution through custom SQL queries. So Jackson, you brought up a good point that your company has kind of like been through all of these stages. Could you talk about kind of how y'all transitioned and what that was like and where you're currently at now? Yeah. So I kind of touched earlier on what where we're at. We moved into the heavy job first stage there of just getting our people used to submitting things right. Daily time cards, PTPs, JHAs, whatever your company calls them, observations, there's inspections, Howard permits, all of those kinds of things. So we spent a good amount of time just focusing on making sure that the teams were knowledgeable enough to do that in a way that was beneficial. So that was kind of step one. Step two is when we kind of went into the data aspect of these things, just utilizing insights. And so again, just insights, those pre canned reports that are available using those at the very start where we didn't have to do a whole lot and basically day one of getting access, we're able to take those and just report on form and submission of documents and project submission of documents. Again, we didn't have a whole lot of knowledge, or at least I didn't, in terms of how to use BI at that point. BI or Insights or anything along those lines, so it was a very good timing of a learning tool as well where we were able to take those pre populated reports that HTS has provided and turn them into our own custom reports where we were able to see what we wanted to see. All of that through insights. It didn't take a lot of necessarily time and effort, but it was a very controlled environment where we already have the start of what we need, turn it into maybe things that we're more used to seeing and we want to see as Walsh and then it's still in Insights. And now we're kind of in the phase here over the past couple months of taking it into direct access. So exporting our data, putting it into our own separate BI environment where we can do some more custom things that we just didn't feel the need to go through HCSS for. So we have that access or we have that data through direct access and we're able to experiment, I guess, little bit more, do what we think might work, create new measures, create new data connections, connect to other databases that we have access to all through that direct access in our external BI. And so that's kind of the next evolution of our process, is moving up to that next level of direct access and figuring out what that looks like. Even there, we've been working on it for about a year. There's still a lot for us to learn. As soon as we complete one task on that list, five others pop up. And then that's before we even get into the whole AI conversation of how to utilize that information with the data coming out of direct access, which is gonna be the next step. So it's it's a never ending process of things that we're continuously working on, but it's it's a good problem to have, I guess, is learning new things and figuring out how to make it work for us and show how what we want to show our projects. Yeah. Which is really like the key of all this is continual improvement, finding new ways to make things better. And it's been really cool to see you all kind of go through those phases. With that, I want to go into some examples that you've kind of graciously provided us of what y'all's reports look like, and we can kind of compare them to some of the out of the box reports and what they started with versus what they are now. So this first one is like really kind of cool, in my opinion, because you can see just the difference between the out of the box report on the left for the JHA compliance. For some context, we add this as a template report. One to see the overall compliance is a quick KPI in the top right hand corner of your foreman, making sure that they are submitting a type a JHA along with the time card that they are submitting for the day. And secondly, this was kind of off the back of talking to a lot of customers and them moving towards like a lot of incentive programs based around like, you know, the foreman who has the best compliance of submitting a with their time card at the end of the month gets a little bonus. But then it's cool to see the start how this report came template and what you have turned it into at Walsh to fit y'all specific business needs. So could you go over, like, some of the changes that you have made and the rationale behind them to better suit your specific business needs? Yeah. Absolutely. I guess the the first and the bad answer is just I like color. So we added bit of the Walsh branding in there and the the blue and the green just to make it look more like our types of reporting. But, yeah, it really, we started with the template. Right? We saw what the foremen were doing, what they should be doing, and we just added some extra, some extra lines to that. Right? So if they're doing a time card, are they whole having the morning huddle that they're supposed to be doing? Are they have the huddle? Do they have the documents? Is the document filled out? Is it all lining up and making sense with what they should be covering for that day? Is the amount of PTP again, call them PTPs, JJs, that are submitted the right number. I'd love to say that over the past ten years, every foreman that's ever run a crew always the right documentation. But at least now I can tell at a glance on any given job if that's true or not and find out very quickly and then not only find out, but review the documents. That's one of my favorite features within Insights is there's that little link for each of the PTPs performing and so I can again not just from a compliance aspect of it or the numbers close enough but now I can actually look at the document review specifically that day and see very quickly did they have the right hazards controls in place? Did they talk to their crew about that plan well enough? Did everyone sign off? So those are some of the things we added just the extra. Did they do enough? Did they do their PTP for the day? Did they hold the meeting? And then just the counts of everything. We wanted to make sure that we were able to, again, at a glance, get an idea of how the job's doing for that given time frame. And with that, I want to give another example of kind of what you can create. This is a production plan report that one of our sales engineers made in one of our demo environments. But I did kind of want to just show I like this report due to space restrictions. We both get two images, but in a report, it's one large report. But this goes over, you know, for your production planning, where's the work happening, who's doing the work, what work is actually planned to be done. But really, think this kind of exemplifies the different kind of visual customization elements that you have with the product like insights that is built on top of Power BI. You know, Knudson talked about whenever the map feature that they released not too long ago within HeavyJob. But, you know, being it is created within Power BI, Insights has a lot of functionality like that, that, you know, we're able to extract the lat and long of these submissions and where the work is planned to be built and put them into a map overlay that you can use to, you you can highlight and click on one of these transactions and it will immediately zoom the map into exactly where this is happening. So this is just kind of an example of like the different kind of visualizations and the customization that you can get if you weren't able to see that with how much Jackson has customized the JHA compliance report as an example in insights. And with that, I wanted to lead into what Direct Access offers. So these are two reports that once again, Jackson has been so like very open and gracious about sharing some of their workflows. And these are two reports that look like they're in insights because they're in Power BI, but this is actually running in their local BI environment that's being powered by direct access. So, Jackson, why did you like what functionality were you looking for in customization to bring these down into direct access into your local Power BI environment and have, you know, create these kind of from scratch? Yes. So there's a couple reasons. We had known from the beginning that we had always wanted to export the data. Insights is a great tool for that beginner to intermediate level, but it's contained right on purpose. It's it's a she assessed data that it's reporting on. So the the very first thing is just we're by exporting through direct access, we are able to connect to other sources we have. We have our learning administrative administration portal where we have training and things like that being done. We have our software. We're submitting salaried people's hours. We have software where we're doing our risk analysis of insurance and things like that. We just have all these other data sources that we're now able to connect to by going through the direct access route. So we're kind of step one in this process was basically and that's kind of the the visual at the top left was basically just recreating what we've already done in insights. So that one right there at the top left is basically a one to one of insights report that we already created. But then we're able to take a little bit further and create, like I said before, just custom measures that we think are relevant to us. Not that we're not gonna ask HCSS to implement that when they have thousands of customers and this is just something we want. We're able to just do that ourselves. And so that kinda gets into the one on the bottom right where reporting on we have expectations of our people to do certain activities on a weekly or monthly basis. So again we're connecting to some others of our data points so that we're able to report on that accurately. And so by putting it through direct access and into our own model, we're able to again experiment, try some things out and probably fail and then learn from that and do new things going forward. But it it's it's a useful and great tool for figuring out new things in the industry and how we wanna view these data points. Yeah. Setting something like this up is really quite the large undertaking, but the advantages that you can get at the end of it, there is like a light at the end of the tunnel and you come out the other side just the most informed you possibly can be. And and, AI, we're doing, like, the beginning versions of these reports, all of which will probably eventually be filtered through some type of AI review or AI agents or systems so that it can give us an even better understanding of all this data and ways to improve the reports and what people see. And it's just there's so much that can and will be done with it that it's it's interesting and exciting. Yeah, I kind of touched on that earlier a little bit, but in the age of AI, having that single source of truth, it makes it easier for the AIs to like interpret the data. And then secondly, much more efficient if it has a single source of truth and doesn't have to, you know, span everything to go find a single source of data. It knows that the data is all right here, your token efficiency goes way up. And with that, and once again, thank you, Jackson, for like willing to share these reports because it's really nice to see like from a customer's perspective how you are actually implementing the product. And with that, oh, sorry. Yeah. But with that, just some quick webinar takeaways. So firstly, eliminating the day between the delay between the field and office and getting that virtualized kind of software based solution is really important just because that is one of the biggest time sinks. And that was like one of the core problems that heavy that heavy jobs set to solve, like twenty five years ago. And once you have that data, leveraging it and transforming it into actual insights to uncover inefficiencies and make better decisions. And then three, acting on those decisions to drive faster corrective action, both on trends and the real time data. And lastly, empowering your field team by giving them the information they're needed to. Like the ultimate goal would be they just self correct. And, you know, that that that's something that does not happen overnight and it's very much a culture thing, but it it is a good thing to work towards. So he was asking in terms of that production planner that we mentioned earlier as a way to kind of look at the the what if scenarios for your time card, how to get your crew back on track. Matthew was asking, can you flip what you create in production planner into a time card? And the overall answer is yes. If you're building that what if scenario in the production planner, there's an option to create a time card directly from that. But I guess one thing that's important to mention is people have the option to create their own production plan, but you can also create production plans for other foremen. So say you're a superintendent in the field and you're trying to get some of your crews back on track, you can create a production plan for the different foremen that you oversee. And then when they start a new time card that matches the day job foreman of that production plan, they'll have an option to either start fresh or create that time card from the production plan. Okay. So we had another question come in. Collecting field data requires training and extra effort from crews, which is definitely true. In your experience, what were the biggest challenges when implementing it on real projects? Who usually pays for that extra cost? Thank you. Okay. Great question. So that's there are some options around that. One of the big things that we believe in when it comes to setting up our software is getting you guys implemented in a way that's that's effective. So that's always one of the first stages of getting set up with HCSS software, especially heavy job is is sitting down and making sure, you know, the all of the data structure is in a way that works the best, how your business works, and making sure the setup reflects that. But then we also have several resources on that are just free of charge or included with the cost of the software such as, you know, video and and help resources. We got help dot h c s s dot com, which has a lot of the walk throughs of the different processes. But we also have a lot of videos on our online hub that talk about how to work with your crews, you know, how to get how to use the field app. And, you know, like they mentioned in the question, you know, getting that buy in is definitely a challenge. So it's really a combination of, you know, these software solutions, but also with working with your teams and and implementing processes. So some of that happens in the initial setup. We've got a great crew of subject man matter experts that can come by after the fact too. And that's what I've seen some companies do if they don't have an internal team to implement those kind of changes. They can hire one of those guys to come out on-site maybe six months in after they get the initial setup going and say, okay. Now we want to start tracking production quantities, or now we wanna take our our safety team to this next level and start using JHAs or or whatever that next step is. So it it definitely takes a village, but we've got those resources available for the folks that need them. Yeah. For us as well. I mean, had this situation come up obviously about two years ago. And so we're obviously very lucky to have safety pros, quality pros, IT on most of our jobs. And so our experiences aren't necessarily going to be the same as everyone else's experiences. But did something that is hopefully replicable is just top down creating some local champions, I guess, making sure there's some key people that really understand the aspects of any software. Right? Make sure they know what's going on and how to use it and why things don't work sometimes because those are the types of questions that need to be answered quickly. So having somebody nearby that can answer that is especially beneficial, Especially we're dealing with a lot of foreman, wide range of technical usage there where some people we gave iPads and they've not really used to it or it's not something that they've ever used before. And then some are just taking and they understand it. And so just having those people that can be points of contacts is is huge as best as you're able to distribute them. Great.
