Project description
Recently tapped to upgrade one of the most iconic structures in the world, Halmar International successfully won its bid for Phase 3B of retrofitting the Golden Gate Bridge. As the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC), Halmar is set to lead pre-construction efforts in a role that includes planning construction access, creating detailed schedules, and working closely with the District’s Design Team to finalize the construction plans that will help ensure the bridge stands strong for generations to come.
What makes it interesting?
This isn’t just any bridge. First built from 1933-1937, the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the great wonders of the world. The upcoming Phase 3B of the seismic retrofit project is estimated at $879 million and will take around six years to complete. It’s a huge, complex job involving foundation strengthening, installing micropiles and rock bolts, building reinforced concrete shearwalls, and replacing critical structural components, all while keeping traffic moving through carefully planned nighttime lane closures. The project as a whole is a bold, technical challenge, which is exactly the kind of job Halmar is fully equipped to win.
How HCSS software assisted with the project
Halmar used HeavyBid construction estimating software to put together the winning proposal for Phase 3B of the retrofit. With a project of this scale and complexity, accuracy in the bidding process is an absolute must, and HeavyBid delivered. HCSS is enormously proud of how its bidding software played a pivotal role in securing the final phase of this landmark project.
“We are equally excited and honored to work on the world-famous and iconic Golden Gate Bridge. This aligns with Halmar’s construction expertise on many complex bridge rehabilitation projects.”
