New ARTBA chairman McGough has more than 35 years’ experience in the construction industry.
The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) is an 8,000 member organization whose primary goal is to aggressively grow and protect transportation infrastructure investment, much of that with the federal government. HCSS is very proud that our President and CFO, Steve McGough has been chosen to lead that organization for the next year.
Steve, 56, who holds a BS in Engineering from Texas A&M and an MBA from Tulane, has been in the construction industry for 35 years and with HCSS since 2005. Steve’s number one goal for this year is to get a long-term Transportation Bill passed through both houses of Congress and signed into law.
Most anyone reading this article has an interest in the outcome. According to Steve, “The current political environment in Washington makes any policy achievement difficult. That said, President Trump and elected leaders from both parties in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives have repeatedly said infrastructure investment remains an area for common ground. A 21-0 vote in the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee approving a 5-year highway bill in late July was a major bipartisan achievement. Now it’s a matter of getting the full Senate to take it up. If we can get the bill out of the Senate, it should significantly increase pressure on the House to act.”
We thank Steve for his dedication to the construction industry, particularly for his dedication to HCSS, and his incredible achievement of becoming ARTBA Chairman. We look forward to seeing him lead us to success on the legislative front as well as success in one of his other passions – construction workforce development.
