Millions of Americans have risked their lives fighting for our country, and Ian Reyes, Project Coordinator at HCSS, wants to make sure they get the recognition and support they deserve. For that reason, he started the “HCSS Salutes our Veterans” group to share information about benefits for HCSS veterans and their families and to plan events for community fundraising efforts here in Ft. Bend County, Texas.
This month, the group held a virtual 5K “Running with the Dogs” as a fun way to stay active and raise money for Easter Seals Greater Houston. Easter Seals is the leading non-profit provider of services for individuals with disabilities, service members, veterans, and their families. All participants were asked to complete a 5K run over 2 weeks. This could be done on a bicycle, treadmill, running, walking, etc. Participants with dogs were invited to have them join the fun!
Employees shared their progress photos using our employee app to encourage each other to stay motivated. Everyone who donated and completed the 5K will receive a “HCSS Running with the Dogs” 5K Medal. While the activities are still ongoing, we’re projected to raise over $2,000.
We want to thank everyone who participated or donated. These funds will go toward providing therapy, training, education, and support services to individuals who need it throughout the Houston community, and will ultimately make a difference in someone’s life.
